Artec Electronics and Indie Education merge into Televic Education
In a strategic move, Artec Electronics 'member of the Televic Group', has acquired the Education department from the well-known internet company 'Indie Group'. From 1st June 2008, the companies will continue activities under the new name of 'Televic Education'.
Artec, based in Izegem, Belgium is a global leader in the manufacture and supply of high-end technologies for education, including Digital Language Laboratories and Multimedia Classrooms. Artec has more than 50 years experience in this field, with installations in daily use in classrooms across the world. Indie Education, based in Kortrijk develops web-based applications and learning platforms, which are used in many of the top educational institutions in Belgium.
Bert Wylin, Managing Director of Indie Education, has been appointed as the new CEO of Televic Education. The Indie Group have retained their 3 other departments in: Communication, Collaboration and Gaming while their stockholder structure remains unchanged. The merge will not see changes to the personnel of either company.
Artec's acquisition of Indie Education is a strategic move by both companies to strengthen their position in their primary markets but also to open opportunities within new and evolving markets and technological advances.

Televic Education thus becomes the leading company in Belgium in the field of educational software/hardware solutions. To streamline this further for logistics, Televic Education will be based in the Kortrijk area, while the Televic Group will continue from Izgem and the Indie Group will remain in the current location in Kortrijk.
